Laura started with colorful vintage ceramic beads and added carved bone skull beads and precious metal clay (PMC) to create this vivid necklace for the Day of the Dead celebration. It’s her second entry in the competition at Nomad Designs, a bead store located in Boulder Colorado.
The large carved bone skull has a PMC hood or niche festooned with stars and her trademark colorful patina makaes the fine silver shine with color.
The smaller skull beads are nestled in their own PMC settings and makeup the bottom of the beaded tassel. Laura links it all together with patinated wire.

This necklace is titled “I won’t go out without my hat”, and it is made with beads of Czech glass and cow bone as well as a Precious Metal Clay pendant. The pendant features a skull with jaunty feathered hat and bowtie, and ruby eyes. Cubic Zirconia add even more sparkle to the mix, and the patina on the fine silver metal pendant gives a rainbow of colors.
This is one of two necklaces that Laura has made for the “Day of the Dead” contest at Nomad Designs in Boulder Colorado.

This delicate amphora shaped pendant LOOKS like an antique thats been salvaged from some ancient undersea wreckage, but it is a modern marvel instead. Laura uses PMC (precious metal clay) to create pendants, pins, and beads. This clay is made of reclaimed silver suspended in a modeling material that is fired away after shaping, leaving fine silver.
Laura then uses special chemicals to create patinas that mimic age and weathering to give an antiqued look, or to bring out vivid blues, greens, and purples in the silver.

Laura’s used polymer clay quilt block squares in the Log Cabin Pattern (made by Judith Skinner) along with copper wire and Swarovski crystals to create a contemporary, colorful charmer of a bracelet.
This and several other pieces were featured in an article in Belle Armoire magazine this summer, and in the book “Adapting Quilt Patterns To Polymer Clay” by Judith Skinner and Sarajane Helm.
Beads made of amethyst, citrine, glass, crystal and more are strung into a beautiful necklace by Laura. It is graced with a central pendant of polymer clay made by Janis Holler. Their artisan jewelry and componants can be seen at Bead Lounge in Longmont Colorado, which is now reopening as Janis’s very own store!

Laura’s been making bracelets with wire and beads. These two are spectacular!
This magnificent cuff bracelet is formed with copper and gold filled wire, and liberally laced with a fabulous and colorful array of beads made of Citrine, Amethyst, Moss Agate, Green Amethyst, Flourite, Rhiolite, Kyanite, Apetite, Green Opal, Rhodochrosite, Dyed Quartz, Pearl, Czech Glass Swarovski Crystal. It fits 6 ¼-7inch wrist and is available for sale at LandSGlory’s Etsy shop. Here’s a look at the back of the bracelet.
The second bracelet was a special order, and contains over an ounce of gold filled wire, copper wire, Swarovski crystals and Czech Fire Polished Glass. It is big, bold and beautiful!

This pendant is made with PMC (Precious Metal Clay) and a fused glass cabochon with dichroic. The purple Cubic zirconia pick up the color from the dichroic glass and from the patina on the silver.
Laura is a whiz at getting wonderful colors in the patination process; her silver never has that raw unfinished look; she’s meticulous with the finishes!

Laura’s been very creative so far this year, and she’s opened a shop at Etsy.comas an additional sales outlet on-line for her work. Everything at Etsy has to be handmade or vintage, and Laura’s beautiful work is in good company there!
She occasionally uses exquisite vintage beads or jewelry pieces in her creations, but more often what looks to be a necklace taken from an archaeological dig is actual quite new! Laura is fast becoming known for her ability to mix modern materials like fused glass and PMC (Precious Metal Clay is an amazingly form-able version of fine silver) with the classic styles that call to mind Ancient Celtic or Renaissance Jewelry.
This necklace and bracelet set is hand patterned and patinated fine silver, along with sterling silver chain, fused glass with dichroic cabochons made by Mad Margie Drake, and Cubic Zirconia.
Laura’s craftsmanship and attention to detail don’t stop at the front—the backs of her pieces are beautiful as well. The patinas that give her pieces the look of great antiquity are also manipulated by Laura to give an iridescent rainbow of beautiful color to the silver. When combined with the fiery reflective qualities of dichroic glass, her jewelry glows with rich detail and color.
